Former Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock has topped an online poll in The Star which asked, who should replace Steve Evans as Rotherham United manager?

Evans' departure from the Millers caused a shock on Monday and many of the early contenders for the job as far as the bookmakers were concerned had South Yorkshire links.

Former Sheffield Wednesday head coach Stuart Gray was the early favourite, but coming out on top in The Star's poll was Warnock with 37% of the vote.

Gray came in third on 18%, behind ex-Barnsley player and Leeds United coach Neil Redfearn.

Warnock, who spent eight years at Bramall Lane between 1999 and 2007 hasn't managed a team since leaving Crystal Palace towards the end of 2014.
