ROTHERHAM United went hunting for a second League One scalp tonight - and achieved it with an astonishing first half display of power and attacking enterprise.

The Millers who dumped Stevenage out of the FA Cup at first round stage, had been looking to do better than the recent home 1-1 draw with Notts County, for tonight’s second round replay.

Millers skipper Ian Sharps missed out - he was suspended after he picked up his fifth booking of the season in that game. Highly-rated midfielder Alan Judge was back for the Meadow Lane side following suspension.

But Judge and his men were unable to stop rampaging Millers midfielder Ben Pringle; he smashed the ball home from 25 yards, dipping into the bottom corner, on nine minutes.

The build-up had featured Michael O’Connor, who had been in lively mood.

It was no fluke...and even better was in store.

Pringle’s dangerous corner eluded the County defence and full back Mark Bradley scored from six yards.

County were reeling when a straight red card for Damion Stewart left them down to 10 men on 30 minutes. He had elbowed Alex Revell.

And 10 minutes later, the scoreline was a sensational 3-0 to Rotherham: Daniel Nardiello notching from close range to the bottom right corner of the goal.

Not surprisingly, there were changes in the 10-man home side as County ventured out sheepishly for the second half.

Showumni, Zoko and Labadie came on for Hughes, Arquin and Boucaud as manager Keith Curle tried to salvage something from the game.

Pringle could have added to his earlier strike but Alan Sheehan got a block in.

There was defending to do as well, =ex Miller Jamal Campbell-Ryce having an effort stopped by Johnny Mullins.

But at the other end Revell had Mitchell flapping with a 25 yarder.

Andy Warrington looked calm and measured at the other end.

And he backstopped Millers to a hugely pleasing 3-0 Cup victory putting them into the third round for a tie at Aldershot Town.
