MICHAEL Raynes isn’ taking his place in Rotherham United’s starting line-up for granted.

The defender knows he has to hit top form consistently to keep his place in the side, with fellow recruits Troy Brown and Luke Foster waiting in the wings. Raynes, bought for an undisclosed fee from Scunthorpe United, told The Star: “We have got some good centre-backs here so I know I have to keep playing well to stay in the team.

“It is never a bad thing having competition for places and I know I have to avoid complacency or I won’t play.” Millers reserves lost 3-1 at Gateshead last night. Doncaster-born Chris Holroyd scored.
