Former Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham United midfielder Chris Sedgwick has joined Bury on a one-year deal after impressing the League Two side in a recent trial.
The 33-year-old, who spent eights seasons at Rotherham, has teamed up with former Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell at Gigg Lane.
Sheffield-born Sedgwick, who racked up 58 appearcances in a two-year stint at Hillsborough, spent the majority of last season on loan at Hyde FC, having been signed by former Owls boss Brian Laws for Scunthorpe United. The Iron released Sedgwick this summer. He becomes Bury’s eighth summer signing.
On Wednesday, the Shakers also captured John Rooney, the younger brother of Manchester United striker Wayne, on a one-year deal. Rooney has previously played for Barnsley.
Rory Delap, formerly of Barnsley, is currently on trial with Burton Albion.
