Debut goal for keeper Oxley

Have your say

Sheffield-born goalkeeper Mark Oxley was the unlikely hero for Hibernian on his debut as his goal secured a 2-1 opening day win over Livingston at Easter Road.

The former Rotherham United man’s long kick from his area soared over opposite number Darren Jamieson to give his side a commanding 2-0 lead in the first half and they held on for a first victory, despite Declan Gallagher pulling one back for Livingston.

There seemed little danger when Oxley unleashed a lengthy clearance, but Jamieson was caught off guard as the ball soared over him and into the net.

Oxley is on loan from Hull City having also had loans at Grimsby, Burton and Oldham.
