BOSS Andy Scott has outlined the attributes new recruit Troy Brown will bring to Rotherham United.

The young defender, who can operate at either centre-back or right-back, rejected the offer of an extended deal at Ipswich Town and opted to join the Millers on a free-transfer on Friday.

The 20-year-old has agreed a two-year deal and becomes Scott’s sixth summer signing.

“Troy is another young lad we have managed to sign,” said Scott. “I have known him since his days at Fulham. He has good pace and good passing ability and he has played a few games for Ipswich.

“He now wants to establish himself as a first-team player and he is hungry to do well.

“I have known his agent for a long time and between us we convinced him that it was the correct place to come to.”

Brown began his career at Fulham but he failed to make the grade at Craven Cottage and moved to Ipswich.

The youngster, who has represented Wales at Under 17, 19 and 21 level, made 16 appearances for the Tractor Boys last term.
