Premier title almost within Rovers’ grasp

A RESOUNDING 7-1 victory over South Elmsall United Services in midweek virtually assured AFC Sportsman Rovers of the Doncaster Senior Premier Division title.

Rovers are 15 points ahead with a superior goal difference with only five games remaining.

Thomas Needham and Matthew Tolley both bagged a brace against Services with Tobias Dwyer, Guy Sandland and Andrew Wood also netting.David Blake replied for United.

Sutton Rovers kept their faint hopes alive when they beat South Elmsall United won 4-1 at South Elmsall United Services, Luke Chambers, Adrian Parker, Carlo Peynado and Mtchell Wain being their marksmen.

Simon Minshall, after striking in the first half, scored direct from a corner kick, along with Jamie Greenwood, as Bawtry Town had a 5-2 success at Doncaster Deaf. Joshua King and Karl Lloyd, rounded off their nap hand.

Strikes by Nathan Bailey and Luke Shaw earned Swinton Station Athletic a 2-0 victory over Rossington Main.

Honours were shared 1-1 when Edlington Town hosted Adwick Park Rangers A, Christopher Dyson and Andrew Walton being the respective marksmen.

Rossington Main had better fortune in midweek, beating Adwick Park Rangers A 2-0 in their Premier Division KO Cup semi-final - Niall Doyle and Luke Dunstan being on target.

Main will now meet AFC Sportsman Rovers in the final at Yorkshire Main this Friday (7pm)

It’s neck-and-neck in the Division One title race, with Bramley Sunnyside moving back on top after a 4-1 victory over Hemsworth MW in midweek.

Carcroft Village are a point behind with two games in hand after a 3-1 win at Ackworth United, Kieron Bridges, Joe Fisher and Shaun Mundy, getting their goals, Dale Appleton replying.

Hatfield Main remain in the frame after beating Bawtry Town Reserves 7-1. Gary Eades (3) Luke Crompton (2) and Ryan Davies and Craig Taylor rounding it off,
