AFTER their opening 6-2 victory at Lincoln United, Sheffield FC were brought down to earth with a bump with a 2-1 defeat against Loughborough Dynamo at Dronfield.
Loughborough took the lead after a defensive error allowed Lewis Hamilton to fire home. Sheffield should have at least been on level terms with Vill Powell, Ashley Worsfold and Chris Adam all putting chances wide.
Loughborough doubled their advantage on 75 minutes through Dominic Brennan. Wayne Burrell reduced the deficit on 90 minutes firing through crowd, but it was too little too late.
Stocksbridge conceded five for the second game in a row as a second half collapse saw Steels slump to a 5-0 defeat at Blyth Spartans.
Steels’ best chance came on the half hour when Michael Fisher headed just over the crossbar from a Mark Whitehouse cross. However, two goals inside the first five minutes opened up the floodgates as the host ran out comfortable winners.
Frickley Athletic also suffered a second successive defeat losing 2-1 at home agai9nst Matlock Town
In the Baris NCEL, Parkgate beat Tadcaster Albion 4-0 at home 4-2 at home.
Luke Fletcher opened the scoring on 10 minutes with Nathan Forbes-Swindells doubling the lead on 29 minutes from 20-yards for his sixth of the season.
Joel Purkiss added a third just past the hour with Kier Hannity with an excellent solo effort making it 4-0 before the visitors pulled two back late on. Reigning champions Retford United won 1-0 at Long Eaton United.
