BARNSLEY chalked up a modest 2-1 win at non league Alfreton tonight.

Playing a 4-4-1-1 formation, they had Craig Davies to thank for a brace of goals that were enough to secure a win.

An unknown trialist pulled a well-worked headed goal back for Alfreton with 20 minutes remaining, but the Reds held on, despite defender Rob Edwards having been forced off with a nasty head injury mid way through the second half.

Reds 1st half team (4-4-1-1, r-l): Alnwick, Stones, Foster, McNulty, Stead, O’Brien, Hassell, Digby, Clark, Done, Mido.
