Sheffield FC face a replay at Warrington Town tomorrow after the Evo-Stik North side twice came from behind at Dronfield to draw 2-2 in the FA Trophy preliminary round.
Club took the lead on 12 minutes through a fine 20-yard Jonah Gosling strike but Anthony Hickey equalised six minutes later.
Sheffield restored their advantage when Jamie Hadfield headed in from a Jack Barnett free-kick. Warrington ldevelled again Hickey before the visitors almost snatched it in the final minute.
Two first half goals sent Stocksbridge tumbling to the bottom of the Premier Division table as Burscough leapfrogged the hosts with victory at Bracken Moor.
Yet in spite of what was overall a very disappointing performance with Steels failing to reach the heights of the their FA Cup success against Colwyn Bay a week earlier, Stocksbridge created enough chances to have come away with at least a point.
Even before Burscough had taken the lead Chris Adam blazed a good chance over the bar. Jack Muldoon dragged another chance wide of a post after being in on goal. The striker was then foiled by a great block from the goalkeeper Craig Ellison on the stroke of half time.
In the second half Adams somehow shot wide from a couple of yards after Cusworth and Muldoon efforts had been blocked, while Ellison again saved at point blank after substitute Michael Blythen had got on the end of a Darren Schofield free-kick.
Worksop Town’s new boss Simon Clark got his tenure off to a winning start with a 3-0 home victory over Nantwich Town which saw the Tigers climb out of the bottom four.
Worksop dominated the opening exchanges and ought to have taken a 24th minute lead but somehow Massiah McDonald fired over the bar in front of an open goal after rounding the keeper.
However, the home side made the break through nine minutes before the break when Ashley Burbeary curled a shot into the bottom corner after a flowing five-man move.
The Tigers doubled their advantage two minutes after the interval, on-loan Alistair Taylor from Barnsley finding the top corner from the edge of the box. Taylor sealed the points with his second and Worksop’s third just before the hour knocking in the rebound after the keeper had saved from McDonald.
