Stocksbridge Park Steels went down 2-0 at relegation rivals Mickleover Sports last night.
It leaves Steels 17th in the Evo-Stik Premier Division table and just two points above the drop zone.
Both goals came in the first half that also saw Stocksbridge’s Stuart Ludlam have a goal ruled out for offside with the score at 1-0 and Mark Ward blaze Steels best chance over the bar when unmarked 12-yards out.
The two meet again at Bracken Moor on Saturday (1pm) in what is now a must win game for Gary Marrow’s side.
In the Koolsport Division One, Staveley Miners Welfare stretched their lead at the top to 11 points with 5-1 win at Appleby Frodingham. Andy Fox (2), Tom Jones, Ryan Damms from the penalty spot and Joe McGuire netted.
Elsewhere, Handsworth came from a goal down to beat Eccleshill United 2-1 at Olivers Mount.
The visitors took a 31st minute lead but two quick fire Dave Cockerill goals on goals on 70 and 72 minutes saw Handsworth climb up to fourth.
Rossington Main won 3-1 at Bottesford Town courtesy of goals from Liam Charlton, Michael McDonald and Will Rowley.
It was Main’s ninth away victory of the campaign.
