Non league: Sellars sets the table for Hallam away win

Hallam made beat First Division strugglers Appleby Frodingham 3-1 away despite playing for almost half an hour with ten-men.

The home side were rather fortunate not to have their keeper sent-off after bring down Conor Sellars who was through on goal inside the box. But Sellars inflicted his own punishment picking himself up to put away the resultant penalty to give the Countrymen an 11th minute lead.

Danny Wiltshire doubled the advantage eight minutes before the interval steering home from the edge of the box after braking clear down the middle.

Chris McDonald reduced the arrears on 54 minutes turning in a cross from close range.

However, Hallam restored their two goal cushion a minute later, Aaron Moxam tucking the ball under the keeper from Danny Deakin’s square pass. And despite having Jonathan Wragg sent-off on 62 minutes after the defender was deemed to be the last man, Julian Watts’s side saw the game out with ease.

Parkgate consolidated their place in the Premier Division’s top ten coming from behind to beat Long Eaton United 3-1 at Green Lane.

Shaun Rickford gave the visitors a 14th minute lead but it wasn’t until the 78th minute that Chris Telling put The Steelmen back on level terms. Sam Smith then edged the home side in front on 80 minutes before grabbing his second and Parkgate’s third inside the final minute.

Maltby Main won 2-1 at neighbours Armthorpe Welfare to leave the hosts Premier Division status in doubt.

Craig Gladwin put Malty ahead on the half hour mark with a superb 25-yard volley. Adam Houghton increased the lead from the penalty spot six minutes after the break and although Armthorpe pulled one back through a Steve Garner penalty 18 minutes from time Maltby hung on to take the spoils.

Staveley MW drew 2-2 with Lincoln Moorlands Railway at Inkersall Road. Jamie Smith put the home side in front on 13 minutes but Lincoln hit back to lead 2-1 up just after the interval. However, Sean Dickenson pounced on 77 minutes to give Staveley a deserved point.

Goals from Adam Scott and Gavin Cooper gave Retford United a 2-1 home win over Thackley who pulled one back late on.

Dinnington Town slipped to a 2-1 home defeat against Yorkshire Amateur. But Worsbrough Bridge Athletic came from behind to win3-1 at Rossington Main. Ben Hunter gave the home side a 24th minute lead but Jonathan Cooke with an own-goal and Scott Turner with a fine 25-yard effort saw the Briggers 2-1 ahead on the half hour mark before Lee Garside wrapped up the points with the third 11 minutes from time.

Athersley Recreation kept their Division One title challenge on track thrashing Bottesford Town 7-1. Jason Bentley, Lee and Steven Bennett all bagging a brace added to a Joe Thornton effort.

AFC Emley beat Pontefract Collieries 3-1 with gals from Antony Leech and an Ashley Flynn brace, while Askern Villa slumped to a humiliating 11-0 loss at Louth Town
