ICY temperatures forced the postponement of all last night’s scheduled Non-League games.

Sheffield’s League Cup tie against Division 1 South strugglers Garforth Town was called off for a third successive week, denying Club the opportunity to bounce back from the weekend’s 4-1 league defeat at Loughborough Dynamo.

The tie has been rearranged for next Tuesday.

Other games postponed were Hallam v Askern Villa and Worsbrough Bridge v Dinnington Town. Parkgate’s game against Glasshoughton Welfare at Green Lane was called-off 25 minutes before kick-off.

Meanwhile, former Sheffield United and Leeds striker Bobby Davison has been named as the new manager at NCEL Division One side Eccleshill United. Davison had a loan spell with United in 1992 were he scored four goals in 11 appearances returning the following season before joining Rotherham United. Davison, now 53, takes over at the helm from former Barnsley midfielder Ian Banks.
