Sheffield FC came from behind to beat Basford United 2-1 in extra-time in their FA Cup Preliminary round replay at Dronfield last night, as the visitors finished with eight men.
Tyeisse Nightingale, who scored two in the 3-3 draw last Saturday to force the replay, was the scourge of Sheffield once more, giving Basford the lead on two minutes. Club drew level on the hour, when a cross into the box saw Ashley Longstaff head home.
The visitors were reduced to ten men on 74 minutes with full-back Danny Fletcher sent-off after a second yellow card following a foul on Matt Roney. Cardwell almost won it in normal time with a header from a free-kick that that forced the keeper into a good save.
Basford were reduced to nine men after 111 minutes when Thomas-Wiggan was dismissed after a clash with Elliott Simpson. And Sheffield made their numerical advantage count five minutes later, when Joel Purkiss scored with a beauty from 30 yards for the winner.
Basford then had Ryan Whitehurst sent off in the closing moments.
Elsewhere, a Gavin Allott goal gave Frickley a 1-0 win over Matlock Town, while Worsbrough Bridge Athletic drew 1-1 at Rossington Main.
