Handsworth Parramore celebrated their first ever appearance in the FA Cup with a resounding 5-1 against Oadby Town in their extra-preliminary round tie.

A Sam Smith penalty broke the deadlock on 33 minutes, with Nicky Travis doubling the lead.

Smith then completed his hat-trick, with Lee Hill completing the scoring.

Developent Manager Steve Holmes said: “I thought we were bit slow out of blocks. They were a tidy outfit but once Sam had put away the penalty and Nicky scored with a great free-kick the game changed at that point.”

Staveley MW set-up a trip to Evo-Stik Rainworth MW after inflicting a first defeat of the season on Worksop Town, following a 2-0 victory at Inkersall Road.

Maltby Main came from behind to beat Wigan Robin Park a 2-1 at Muglet Lane, but Parkgate crashed out at the first hurdle, losing 3-1 against Congleton Town at Green Lane with Scott Whittington their lone scorer just before the hour mark to drag them level.

Armthorpe Welfare and Retford United must try again.

Armthorpe forced a 1-1 draw at Guisborough Town after Joe Lumsden’s goal 14 minutes from time cancelled out the host’s 39th minute opener, while Retford must do it the hard way after they were held 2-2 at Cannon Park by Stapenhill where Liam Wilkin hit both the Badgers goals.

The FA Cup meant there were just a handful of league games. Worsbrough Bridge Athletic bounced back from their opening day defeat with a 5-1 win at Teversal.

Brad Kerr netted a hat-trick to make it four goals in two games with Craig Laight chipping in with a brace.

Penistone Church’s good start was undone with a 3-0 defeat at Selby Town, while Dronfield Town remain without a point after slipping to 4-2 home reversal against Hemsworth MW.

Goals from Nick Horsfield and Jack Hague had looked like earning Town a share of the spoils only for the visitors to score twice inside the last 10 minutes.
