Ten-man Doncaster Rovers Belles were downed 9-0 by Liverpool Ladies as Reds striker Natasha Dowie claimed a hat trick.

The FAWSL’s league leaders didn’t take long to get off the mark against winless Belles as Reds skipper Gemma Bonner powered home.

Belles centre-back Tori Williams was then given her marching orders following a challenge in the box - a decision disputed from the Belles faithful.

Louis Fors sent Nicola Davies the wrong way to convert the spot-kick in the seventh minute.

The league’s top scorer then opened her account at the Keepmoat Stadium with a drive from 10 yards out before she fired in a penalty after Millie Bright fouled Amanda Da Costa in the area.

Fara Williams made it 5-0, netting from Da Costa’s searching ball and the England midfielder later claimed her second in the 37th minute with a beautifully struck ball from outside the area - giving Davies little chance.

The seventh goal came in the 41st minute in what was a devastating half for Matt Beard’s visitors, Dowie claiming her hat trick with precision.

Doncaster kept Liverpool’s attacks at bay in the second half with very little chances created for the leaders.

Belles enjoyed good chances after the restart through the industrious Ashleigh Mills. The teenager was first put through by Sue Smith but her heavy first touch saw Rachael Laws claim the loose ball for Liverpool.

Mills then applied the pressure, forcing Liverpool into a defensive error at the byline as the ball was pulled back towards Smith but the midfielder could not quite reach it as the chance went begging.

Belles’ misery continued as Bethany England crashed to the floor in pain following an aerial challenge. Following treatment the striker was eventually stretchered off as new arrival Danielle Cox came on in the forward’s place.

The hosts were much improved in the second half but could do little to stop Nicole Rolser, who had threatened with a couple of earlier chances, as the Liverpool star fired in the eighth.

A strong break from Belles saw Bright release Smith who cut in from the right and drove the ball goalwards, however, Laws was equal to the chance and gathered comfortably.

Bright later struck a 30-yard free-kick just wide as Liverpool substitute Kate Longhurst rounded off the rout in injury time to see the Reds win 9-0.
