Handsworth Parramore staging a late charge

With the Ambers 16-points adrift of leaders Cleethorpes Town the Premier Division title is virtually all but mathematically out of reach, Mick Godber’s side look intent on putting down a statement of intent for next season.

Hemsworth then found themselves down to nine-men for the last 14 minutes following a late challenge on Ambers goalkeeper Gary Stevens. Handsworth then rubbed salt in the wound as Joe Thornton tapped in a late third.

Parkgate boosted their hopes of avoiding the drop following a 3-0 home victory over Harrogate Railway Athletic.

The Steelmen wrapped up the points in the first 45 minutes through Steve McDonnell, a Sam Chapman own-goal and an Alex Lill effort to move within a two-points of safety.

Declan Welford pounced two minutes from time to earn Athersley Recreation a 1-1 draw at Thackley.

Staveley MW slipped to a third home defeat on the spin on all competitions as title outsiders Bridlington Town left with the spoils from a 3-1 victory.

Goals late in each half saw Worksop Town slip to a third defeat in four beaten 2-0 at home by AFC Mansfield.

In Division One, Selby Town became the only team this season to prevent Hallam scoring in the league as Ryan Hindley’s promotion-chasing side were beaten 1-0.

Penistone Church suffered their heaviest league defeat of the season, 5-1 at Campion. A 16th minute equaliser by Andy Ring, left, was as good as it got for Ian Richards’ side.

Dronfield Town ended a run of five defeats after holding leaders Pontefract Collieries to a 1-1 draw at Stonelow Road.

Christian Savage fired Dronfield into a 10th minute lead and although the hosts were pegged back by a penalty just after the half hour mark they held on to come way with a deserved share of the spoils.

That allowed AFC Emley to narrow the gap on the Pontefract to four points after they won 3-0 at Yorkshire Amateurs despite finishing nine-men and their hosts with ten.

Emley had Josh Ingham and Kieran Ryan sent off along with the Ammers Chris Hitching midway through the first half following an altercation.

However, the visitors produced a smash and grab scoring three late goals to come away with maximum points.

Ashley Flynn swept home a Jordan Coduri cross to give the Pewits a 75th minute lead before Matt Jackson came off the bench to grab two goals inside the last nine minutes.

Worsbrough Bridge Athletic made it back to back wins for the first time this season to pull seven points clear of the drop zone with a 3-2 victory against Ollerton Town at Park Road.

Rob Oldham and James Popplewell got the Briggers off to a flying start with two goals inside the opening 17 minutes.The visitors got one back just after the hour but Ryan Pleasants resorted the two-goal cushion on 72 minutes before Ollerton grabbed a second in time added on but it came too late to affect the outcome.

Rossington Main came from behind to beat Teversal 3-1 at home with goals from Shaun Pendleton, Andy McCreadie and Lee Holmes.
