Hallam settle for a point again leaders in dramatic clash

Hallam twice led against Division One leaders Bottesford Town at Sandygate but had to settle for a point after the visitors grabbed a late equaliser.

Joe Highfield put Hallam in front after five minutes, but Bottesford hit back to level six minutes into the second half, Danny Boulton tucking away a rebound after a free-kick had come back off the post.

Hallam quickly regained the lead on 58 minutes through Sam Eckardt, but they were denied a superb win when Karl Slack turned in a cross two minutes from time.

The visitors almost snatched all three points in injury time when they were awarded a penalty, and Julian Laurence was sent off.

But the experienced Terry Barwick fired the penalty over the bar.

Parkgate let slip a three goal lead at Green Lane as Bridlington Town hit back to win 4-3.

Scott Whittington gave the Steelmen a 17th minute, and Piers Bond doubled the advantage three minutes later nodding in a corner.

And when Reece Wesley headed home a free-kick eight minutes before the break, Parkgate looked on their way to three-points.

But Frank Belt pulled one back on 43 minutes with Joel Sutton making it 3-2 two minutes into the second half. Sutton then resorted parity from the penalty spot just past the hour before Wayne Aziz headed home to complete the comeback 13 minutes from time.

Maltby Main romped to a 5-0 win at Basford United with all the goals coming in the first half, from Anthony Mackie, Lee Jordon (2), Brian Cusworth and an own goal.

The game between Armthorpe Welfare and Retford United finished goalless, while Staveley MW won 5-3 at Liversedge with goals from Matt Hassett, Jack Wooley, Sam Finlay and a Michael Trench brace to end a run of four games without a win.

Athersley Recreation stretched their unbeaten run o five games with a 2-2 draw at Premier Division leaders Tadcaster Albion, while second half goals from John Doran and Richie Marples gave Dronfield Town a 2-0 home win over Teversal.

But Dinnington Town went down 1-0 at home against Clipstone where Rob Paling’s 49th minute penalty proved decisive.

Worsbrough Bridge Athletic returned to winning ways beating Selby Town 3-2.

New Shaw Lane Aquaforce manager Craig Elliott’s tenure got off to a winning start with a 3-1 victory at Louth Town, but Rossington Main were beaten for the first time in 10 games when two goals inside the last four minutes gave Shirebrook Town a 2-0 win.

AFC Emley came from a goal down to beat Appleby Frodingham 4-1 at home with goals from Paul Sykes, Sylbert Stewart and a Sam Jerome brace.
