In a game delayed for around 20 minutes due to torrential rain and a thunder storm, Parkgate came back from two down to beat Arnold Town 3-2 at Green Lane to extend their undefeated league start to five games.
Rob Gill and Sam Leggitt had Arnold 2-0 up just before the half hour mark.
In-form Nathan Forbes-Swindells reduced the arrears on 37 minutes before equalising on the stroke of half-time with his eighth goal in the last five outings.
Keir Hannity completed the comeback with the winner 15 minutes from time as the Steelmen held on to second spot in the Premier Division table, two points behind early pacesetters Worksop Parramore, who won 4-3 at Bridlington Town.
Carl Stewart gave Bridling an early lead but Parramore hit back to lead 2-1 with two goals in as many minutes midway through the first half from Jordan Hatton and Lee Whittington. Stewart grabbed his second but in a first half goal feast Hatton with his second put the visitors back in front once more only for Nathan Cook to level again to send the teams in level at 3-3 at the break.
Whittington with his second of the game hit what proved to be the decisive goal 11 minutes into the second half.
Armthorpe Welfare had to settle for a 2-2 draw after letting slip a two goal lead at the break. Joe Lumsden put them ahead, firing through a crowded area. He then set up Richard Smith for an easy tap in. Pickering pulled one back through Liam Salt on 54 minutes before the visitors grabbed a deserved equaliser when Tom Fenwick volleyed in a cross.
Hallam’s disappointing season continued with a 3-1 defeat at Bottesford Town, leaving them second from bottom of Division One.
The Countrymen made a bright start with Liam Morris twice going close with chances that on another day may well have found the back of the net. But against the run of play Bottesford took the lead on 16 minutes through a Dale Hutson 18-yard strike following a short corner.
Hallam levelled on the stroke of half-time when Morris toe-poked home a Ben Kistell corner at the far post. Five minutes after the break Julian Watts men went behind again, Dan Boulton miss-hit shot bobbling over the line before Mark La Rocca sealed the points on 69 minutes firing in a loose ball in the box.
Dinnington Town suffered a third league defeat on the spin as neighbours AFC Emley romped to a 5-0 victory at Phoenix Park through an Ashley Flynn hat-trick, Curtis Roberts and Liam Schofield.
Athersley Recreation are up to third after stretching their unbeaten league start with a 3-0 home win over Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, all the goals coming in the second half. Scorers were Scott Alcock, Craig Wilkinson and Tom Harban (pen).
Askern Villa made it three without defeat but will be a little disappointed to have come away from bottom of the table Appleby Frodingham with just a goalless draw, particularly as Jay Rollins put a golden opportunity wide inside the last five minutes.
Rossington Main suffered a 4-1 home defeat against Clipstone Welfare despite taking a first half lead. Shaun Pendleton knocked home the rebound after Dean Sidebottom’s free-kick had come off the post to put Main ahead on 26 minutes. Gavin King headed the visitors level before three goals in the last 16 minutes from Steve Owen, James McCann and Simon Hennessy saw Clipstone maintain their three point lead at the top.
Both Maltby Main and Retford United booked their place in the first qualifying Round of the FA Cup. The Miners won 1-0 at North West Counties side Chadderton 1-0 thanks to Craig Gladwin’s 20th minute lob over the keeper.
The Badgers put one over their former manager Brett Marshall by beating Evo-Stik Hucknall Town 1-0 away thanks to a 53rd minute Rob Sanderson goal.
Staveley MW were denied victory over their Evo-Stik League visitors Bamber Bridge by a stoppage goal that saw the visitors snatch a 3-3 draw after Kyle Hawthorne, Joe Thornton and Dwayne Wiley efforts had looked like causing a cup upset.
