DONCASTER Rovers Belles booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Women’s FA Cup with a 1-0 win at Chelsea in Sunday’s fifth round tie at Tooting and Mitcham.
Long-serving midfielder Vicky Exley scored the only goal of the game, between two of the eight sides who will be contesting the inaugural WFA Super League which kicks off next month, from a 21st minute free-kick after Sarah Owen had been brought down.
Exley had tested the Chelsea keeper with a far post header.
Aine O’Gorman went close to doubling Belles’ lead on the half-hour.
Kylla also went close with a 25 yarder after the break.
Belles have been drawn away to another Super League outfit, Liverpool, in the last eight. The gam will be played at Skelmersdale on Sunday week (2pm).
Quarter-final draw: Sunderland v Arsenal; Millwall v Bristol Academy; Liverpoool v Belles; Barnet v West Ham United.
