Doncaster Rovers Belles manager John Buckley has urged his players not to get carried away following their first win of the season.
Sue Smith struck in the 51st minute for Belles to record a 1-0 victory over Lincoln Ladies in midweek.
The Belles are next in FAWSL action today when they face Arsenal Ladies - a side who recently beat Buckley’s outfit 6-0.
“I am pleased with the result but I don’t want to get carried away either,” said Buckley after the Lincoln win.
“It was a 1-0 win and it is something that we should be able to do.”
The Scotsman had high praise for his team’s performance, particularly highlighting skipper Leandra Little, goalkeeper Nicky Davies and defensive duo Danielle Cox and Rhiannon Roberts.
However, he did admit that his outfit sometimes “lacked a bit of quality in the right area” against Lincoln and is keen for that to improve against reigning champions and FA Women’s Cup holders Arsenal today.
He added: “That is what we should be playing for - you should love these games so that you can make a name for yourself.”
Arsenal Ladies v Doncaster Rovers Belles, kick-off 12.30pm.
