Kieran Wells marked his league debut for Handsworth Parramore by scoring a three-minute hat-trick to help the Ambers to a 4-1 success at Liversedge.
Wells, who was signed from Midlands League side Long Eaton United towards the end of last week, had a hand in Handsworth’s opener on 27 minutes after combining with Bruno Holden to set up Danny Buttle to tuck home a neat finish from 12-yards.
Liversedge hit back to level through a Joel Farrar header. But Wells then took centre stage, edging the Ambers back in front on 66 minutes with a good finish from Alex Rippon’s reverse pass. Wells bagged his second almost straight from the kick-off, and substitute Nathan Joynes then put Wells in to complete his hat-trick on 68 minutes as the Ambers made it five without defeat in league and cup.
Maltby Main bounced back from their Sheffield Senior Cup semi-final exit with a 2-0 win at neighbours Armthorpe Welfare to all but secure their Premier Division safety.
Luke Norbury and Louis Plenty scored the goals.
Shaw Lane Aquaforce kept up their promotion challenge with an expected three-points at strugglers Retford United, running out 3-1 winners.
Chris White gave the visitors a 21st minute lead with Lee Morris nodding in the second on the half hour mark. White scored his second and Shaw Lane’s third direct from a 34th minute corner.
But Retford are starting to look a different side under new boss Chris Sellars and battled back after the break to grab a deserved consolation effort through Craig Laight.
Parkgate were beaten 1-0 at Green Lane by Nostell MW where James Kitson’s effort just past the half hour mark proved the difference between the teams. Athersley Recreation look to be back on track after a dip in form that had seen them go eight games without a win.
But Ryan Smith’s 33rd minute strike earned Athersley the spoils from a 1-0 victory against Staveley MW to make it three without defeat.
Hallam’s poor run of form continued with a 2-0 loss at neighbours Worsbrough Bridge Athletic sending Ryan Hindley’s men to sixth defeat on the spin in all outings.
Although it might have been a different outcome had Joe Glover, who was making his league debut, not fired wide after Jonathan Fusco’s fifth minute effort had rebounded off the keeper.
Worsbrough wrapped up the points with the second deep into time added on as Askwith got clear to lob Jamie Dean in the visitors goal.
Championship chasing AFC Emley were made to work hard for their 1-0 win at lowly Dronfield Town where Sam Jerome’s goal midway through the second half settled a tight contest.
Rossington Main made it three wins from four beating sixth-placed Bottesford Town 2-1 at Oxford Street.
Lee Holmes headed in his 31st goal of the season to give Main a 24th minute lead. The visitors hit back to equaliser seven minutes into the second half but Jordan Hatton’s superb 25-yarder into the top corner 17 minutes from time deservedly won the game.
Penistone Church extended their unbeaten run to six games but had to be content with a point from a goalless home draw against Hemsworth MW.
