Sheffield FC crashed to a 3-0 home defeat against Tividale - and can have few complaints, after serving up what was possibly the worst performance of the season so far.

Nigel Penney slid in to finish off a good move to give the visitors a deserved 22nd minute lead, and Karl Edward doubled the advantage just before the hour - with Penney completing a comfortable win for Tividale a minute from time, after Ben Algar had been caught in possession.

Stocksbridge Park Steels became only the second teams to leave Coles Lane with any points following a 3-3 draw with second-placed Sutton Coldfield Town. But boss Chris Hilton will have been disappointed it wasn’t all three points after seeing his team lead 2-0 then 3-2 in stoppage time.

Nathan Joynes headed Steels into a 11th minute lead from Korey Dyer-Stewart cross before scoring his and Stocksbridge’s second nine minutes later tucking a neat effort under the keeper.

Sutton got back into the game through a contentious 27th minute penalty and although Liam Flynn saved Justin Richards initial effort, Richards knocked home at the second attempt. Seven minutes later the home side were back on level terms through Daniel O’Callaghan‘s close range header.

Sutton hit the woodwork twice in the second half but Stocksbridge looked to have won it when Scott Turner was brought down in the area by the Sutton keeper who escaped with a yellow card. Joynes stepped up to confidently tuck away the penalty to complete his hat-trick.

However, in the last of six minutes of time added on as Callaghan got his head to a cross to rescue the hosts’ unbeaten home record.

Frickley Athletics’ form has gone off the boil again and a 2-1 defeat at Stourbridge has left Karl Rose’s men with just one win from their last five.

Frickley trailed 2-0 at the break, with Gavin Allott pulling one back from the penalty spot. Matlock Town suffered a first defeat in four, losing 2-1 at Workington, while Buxton got their promotion push back on track as second half goals from Shaun Tuton and Mark Reed saw them beat Halesowen Town 2-1.

Tomorrow’s fixtures: Premier Division: Grantham Town v Buxton, Matlock Town v Frickley Athletic. Division One South: Gresley FC v Sheffield FC, Stocksbridge Park Steels v Leek Town.
