Barnsley were the only local team to play and made full use of their good pitch by extending their winning streak to six.

Barnsley trailed Crewe Alexandra 1-0 at half-time but stormed back to win 4-1. .

They blew Alex away in the second half with goals from Nana Boakye-Yiadom and a hat-trick from George Maris.

The second goal will live long in the memory as Barnsley played 13 passes before Maris finished a terrific team goal.

The academy record of four straight wins has been blown away by Ronnie Branson’s academy.

Their chance for seven comes tomorrow away to Nottingham Forest.

Four games were called off following heavy rain. The scheduled Sheffield derby was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at the Redtooth Academy, Shirecliffe.

Doncaster Rovers called off their game at Cantley Park against Notts County. Chesterfield’s home game against Hull City was also had to be postponed.

Rotherham United’s scheduled trip to Hartlepool United has been rearranged for March 8.
