Chesterfield’s Tendayi Darikwa is understood to be attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs, including Manchester United.

The Red Devils’ manager, David Moyes, was a surprise guest at Highbury Stadium on Saturday as the Spireites locked horns with Fleetwood Town.

Moyes is believed to be a long-time admirer of the 21-year-old from his days in charge at Everton and regularly sent scouts to the Proact Stadium last season.

Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham, West Ham United and Championship side Nottingham Forest are also said to be monitoring the winger’s progress, who can also operate at right-back.

There has been no approach as yet for the player, who is widely regarded as one of the emerging talents in the English game.

Darikwa signed his first professional contract at Chesterfield in 2010.

He established himself as an integral member of the first team under manager Paul Cook, who rewarded Darikwa with a three-year contract extension in November of last year after the youngster produced a number of eye-catching performances.

Darikwa excelled once more in the draw with Fleetwood, under the gaze of Moyes, and Chesterfield would be reluctant to see one of their prize assets leave the club.

But a seven-figure sum might be enough to tempt the League Two leaders into doing business.
