Ninety minutes of football will decide which division Hallam will be competing in next season after Julian Watts’ side ensured their battle against the drop goes to the final game.

It followed a last gasp 2-1 victory at Liversedge where Aaron Moxam hit both goals, whilst relegation rivals Arnold Town were losing 3-1 at home against Tadcaster Albion, leaving the two sides level on points but with Town having a superior goal-difference.

The Blues have to win at Arnold tomorrow, any other result will see the Nottinghamshire survive and Hallam go down along with already relegated Dinnington Town. Moxam opened the scoring after 22 minutes following a Delano Stewart-Jones lay-off. Andy Philp levelled for the hosts six minutes before the break from the penalty spot following Dwayne Wiley’s challenge.

Hallam though always looked the more likely to grab the winner and in the dying minutes, Moxam hit an unstoppable 25yard drive into the top corner.

Parkgate are in pole position to take the runners-up spot after a 3-2 home win over rivals Bridlington Town.

Victory at Green Lane tomorrow against Hall Road Rangers or at Maltby Main will ensure Doug Shelley’s side finish second behind champions Farsley AFC.

Janni Lipka latched onto a Danny Cardwell forward ball to lob the on rushing Town keeper to give the Steelmen a fourth minute lead. Bridlington though went in at the break on level terms after Scott Phillips volleyed home on 37 minutes.

It stayed that way until the final 13 minutes that produced a flurry of goals. Nathan Swindells exchanged passes with Lipka on 77 minutes before slotting home his 23rd goal of the season to put Parkgate back in front.

But Bridlington looked to have grabbed a point when Phillips headed in from close range on 88 minutes for his second of the game. However, the Steelmen had other ideas and just sixty-seconds later, Lipka rifled home a free-kick from the edge of the area.

Dinnington Town fell to a 2-1 defeat at Winterton Rangers while Maltby Main beat Scarborough Athletic 2-1 to end a run of five games without a win.
