Chesterfield are facing an anxious wait to find out the extent of Sam Morsy’s knee injury.
The midfielder was forced off after a challenge with Bristol Rovers’ Ryan Brunt in the first half at the Memorial Stadium.
Spireites boss Paul Cook showed immediate concern for Morsy who was sent for scans yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon.
Central defender Ian Evatt was replaced late on but it was understood to be precautionary and the club captain has been back in training this week.
Fellow defenders Drew Talbot and Nathan Smith are closing in on a return to first team action.
Talbot had an injection in his troublesome groin last week and was back in training Tuesday. He is expected to train again today.
While Smith was an unused substitute at the weekend following his recovery from an ankle problem that stretches back to March, when he suffered a fracture away at Oxford United.
