ROTHERHAM United suffered their second defeat of the season at the hands of Dagenham and Redbridge, who followed up last November’s 5-0 win with a 2-1 success at Rotherham’s Don Valley Stadium.
The game’s defining moment came in the second half, when Kari Arnason was sent off after fouling Medy Elito.
The linesman waved his flag to signal a spot kick and the referee sent off Arnason, who was last man.
It was the Iceland star’s second red card of the season, and Elito took the spot-kick himself, sending Warrington the wrong way.
Claude Davis came to Rotherham’s rescue with an equaliser, after Daniel Nardiello’s rasping drive was tipped over by visiting goalkeeper Chris Lewington.
And from the resulting corner, Davis rose unmarked to nod in the equaliser.
Arnason’s dismissal really opened up things as Nardiello flashed a shot across the face of goal and Alex Revell’s piledriver from an acute angle was parried by Lewington.
But with eight minutes left, Dagenham regained the lead through Luke Wilkinson. He smashed in Matthew Saunders’ free kick after Davis had bundled Elito over.
Davis was yellow carded for the cynical tackle.
Ben Pringle, just before he was replaced by Kieran Agard, rattled the crossbar with a ferocious free kick - but it just wasn’t to be Rotherham’s day.
