Games involving Maltby Main, Armthorpe Welfare and Rossington Main were three of only four that were played in the Toolstation NCE League as the wet weather took its toll once more.
Maltby suffered a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Premier Division leaders Tadcaster Albion. Maltby’s gritty performance deserved much better.
The visitors opened the scoring against the run of play through Danny Critchlow, but Mick Norbury’s men deservedly drew level on 29 minutes thanks to a fine Michael Cookson volley from distance.
Tadcaster scored what proved to be the winner after 55 minutes, when Callum Ward pounced on a loose ball inside the area. Armthorpe Welfare were unlucky to come away from Long Eaton United on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline, Adam Burton scoring the only goal of the game.
Rossington Main’s remarkable run continued as they came from behind to beat promotion hopefuls Pontefract Collieries 3-2, thanks to Shaun Pendleton, Steve Etherington and Lee Holmes.
