Main climb into second spot after big victory

NATHAN Fraser and James Batchelor both bagged a brace of goals to help Rossington Main post a 6-2 Doncaster Senior League Premier Division win at Mexborough Town.

Rhys Brailey and David McGee also netted for Main, who climbed into second spot. Thomas Needham and Craig Mitchell shared out the Town consolation goals. Shafton Villa made it five win in a row with an 8-2 victory at Carcroft Village, Ben Pearson led the way with a hat-trick.

Goals from Dean Daffin, Paul Gateby, Robert Hodgson and Gareth Phillips, earned Scawthorpe and Bentley Rhinos victory by the odd goal in seven at South Kirkby Colliery.

Reigning champions Sutton Rovers beat Denaby United 2-1 courtesy of goals by Luke Chambers and Leon Tarry. Jason Astphall grabbed the United consolation. Bramley Sunnyside banked all three points without kicking a ball after Kinsley Boys was unable to field a team. Graham Phillips and Paul Cooper both hit hat-tricks as Hemsworth MW accounted for Westwoodside Rangers 8-0 to open up a three points lead at the top of Division One.

Second-placed Denaby Main remain unbeaten after gaining a 6-2 success at Scawthorpe Scorpions, Ryan Oakley led the way with a double with Conor Hayden, Wayne Hargrave, Shaun Pratt and Thomas O’Neill all weighing in.

Jamie Lambert and Torran Adams shared out the Scawthorpe goals.

A hat-trick from Richard Sands secured Dunscroft United a 3-2 success over ISG Doncaster, for whom Tomasz Sowinski and Slawomir Ostrowski replied.

FC Central won 3-1 at Harwoth Colliery on the back of goals by Jacob Bubby, Stefan Faulkner and Jordan Cherowbrier. Dan Crossland scored the only goal of the game as Swinton Athletic beat Newton Arms 1-0.

Ackworth United (James Winder) beat Rovers Foundation by the same score.

Bawtry Town saw their hopes dashed in the Notts FA Challenge Cup competitions.
