AFTER three away defeats, Stocksbridge Park Steels picked up their first point on the road with a 1-1 draw at Hednesford Town.
After the poor showing against Buxton in the last outing, boss Gary Marrow changed things around, handing new loan signing Jonathan Williams from Gainsborough Trinity a start in midfield and pushing giant centre-back Brett Lovell up front to play alongside Jack Muldoon.
Chris Glarvey was given a first start at right-back with full-back Anthony Lloyd being deployed as a right winger.
The hosts opened the scoring on 58 minutes when, from a long ball over the top, Jamie Osborne won the race with Scott to set up Danny Quinn for an easy finish.
Marrow made another tactical change on 81 minutes, sending on Mark Ward as an extra attacker and taking off full-back Kevin Davies. And it worked a treat as Steels pumped up the pressure which resulted in the equaliser on 89 minutes. Lovell’s through ball found Muldoon who nipped in between defenders to run on and score with a smart finish.
Meanwhile, it’s now seven games without a win for Worksop Town after defensive mistakes cost them dear and saw Martin McIntosh’s men slump to a 2-1 defeat at Northwich Victoria.
Frickley Athletic slipped to a 1-0 home defeat against Ashton United to leave them without a win in the last six while Matlock Town came from a goal down to beat Burscough 2-1 and stretch their unbeaten run to six games.
