Chesterfield’s first team coach Kevin Lynch has praised Sam Hird’s attitude while the defender was transfer-listed.
Defender, Hird, was taken off the list by Spireites boss Paul Cook on Monday following his contribution to the club’s impressive start.
The 26-year-old has been an ever-present at the heart of the back four that has racked up six clean sheets from eight League Two games.
He grabbed his first goal of the campaign against AFC Wimbledon on September 14.
Lynch said: “He is an excellent professional and a great role model. Any other player might have spat his dummy out the pram but he has been a pleasure to work with.
“He has grown in confidence game by game and has played his part in the clean sheets.”
Former Doncaster Rovers man, Hird, was made available for transfer in April.
