THERE’S a tasty starter with a Sheffield derby on opening day in the First Division of the Baris Northern Counties East League.
Hallam, relegated from the Premier last season, will pop across one side of the city to play Handsworth who are starting their second season in the league.
For Hallam it will be the start of a long opening run of away games - their first home game in the league isn’t until October 1 due to cricket fixtures at Sandygate extending into the third Saturday of September.
Their only scheduled home game is an FA Vase tie with Rossington Main, which is set to be switched to a Sunday.
Hallam’s first seven league games are away as are nine of ten in all competitions.
Dinnington Town, also relegated last season, start on the August 6 opening day with a home game against Pontefract Collieries.
Handsworth get another home date on the second Saturday, August 13, and that’s a local derby too because they face Dinnington Town.
