Lee Westwood has increased his backing for his hometown football club, with a sponsorshop deal for all four Worksop Town sides.
The former world number one golfer will have his golf school’s logo on the front of the home and away shirts for the first team, academy side, Under 19s and women’s squad.
Simon Dainty, head of schools for the Lee Westwood Golf Academy, confirmed this week that the Worksop born and bred sports star wanted to continue his sponsorship of the world’s fourth oldest football club.
It’s the second successive season that Tigers have benefited from Westwood’s financial support.
And chairman Kev Keep was over the moon.
He said: “Speaking with Simon Dainty, he said that Lee was happy to continue the sponsorship of the first team kit and would also include the three new teams under the same umbrella with the Westwood golf logo on all our players’ kit.
“This is fantastic news for the club, the fans and Worksop people in general as a high profile sports person from Worksop has stepped up to the plate and sponsored the shirts for a second season, also increasing revenue.
“Working with the senior management at the golf academy, Simon and Gavin Hamlyn was a pleasure, they’re fantastic people to work with.”
The Westwood Academy will display the Worksop home and away shirts at their base in Cheshire.
The jerseys, which have remained exactly the same as last season in design, will boast the logos of Avery Dennison and Peacock Windows on the home and away versions respectively.
Avery Dennison will also sponsor the players’ shorts, while local coach company Johnsons Tours will sponsor the tracksuits and Alexander Calder Financial Services the matchball for home games.
Keep added: “It shows that if we work as a team off the field as well as on it companies and sports personalities are prepared to invest and help us to achieve great things.
“I’m very proud to have secured the sponsorship deals for this great club.”
