Football: Rose recalls England outing

FOOTBALL

FOOTBALL

DONCASTER-born defender Danny Rose has nothing but happy memories of representing his country at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Four years ago, Rose scored in front of his home public when on duty for England’s Under-19s side in their clash with Bosnia-Herzegovina.

“I was fortunate enough to play there (the Keepmoat) when I was with the U19s and was even lucky enough to score, which was great for me with a lot of family and friends at the game,” he added.

“I remember Nathan Delfouneso crossed it for me and I managed to get above the centre-half and head it in.

“I think that might be the only headed goal that I’ve ever scored in my career!”

England U19s are in action at the Keepmoat next Tuesday when they take on Denmark, kick-off 7.45pm. Nearly 7,000 tickets have already been snapped up and Rose is urging the youngsters to enjoy the occasion.

“It’s a really nice stadium with a good pitch and is a good size for the U19s,” said the Sunderland and England U21 international.
