FIT again striker Chris Brown is loving - and living - the Life of Brian.
The Doncaster-born front man, who bagged his ninth goal of the season last time out against Orient, says he feels stronger than ever and is enjoying a new lease of life under Brian Flynn.
Brown suffered an injury- ravaged return to Rovers last season as he was forced to sit out seven months of the club’s failed attempt to stay in the Championship.
But the in-form 28-year-old has put his injury worries firmly behind him and has burst back onto the scene after his most recent spell on the sidelines.
Brown told The Star: “I probably feel as good as I have done in my career. I feel fit and strong.
“I’m doing a lot of work with our sports scientist Ben Rome in the gym and I’m feeling the benefit of that.
“I’m enjoying the training under Brian, things are going well for me and the team.
“For whatever reason I found myself out of the team towards the end of Dean’s reign,” he added.
“When a manager leaves it’s one of those situations where you either sink or swim. You’ve got a chance to prove yourself to someone new.
“I had a great opportunity at Stevenage and thankfully we won the game and I played 90 minutes and felt really good.
“It was pleasing to continue that against Orient and get a goal.”
Brown, who has been troubled by a back problem in recent seasons, suffered a groin injury in the build-up to last month’s trip to his former club Preston.
But he returned at Stevenage with a bustling man-of-the- match display, leading the line with real power and presence.
Like his teammates, the former Sunderland and Norwich striker’s confidence is brimming ahead of this weekend’s trip to struggling Bury.
“The confidence is flowing,” said Brown. “Hopefully we can continue our good run this weekend. We’ve got to be looking to win games like this.
“The new manager has let us play with a bit of freedom,” he added.
“He’s kept things the same and just told us to enjoy it.
“I think Brian had a big part to play behind the scenes when Dean was here anyway, in terms of looking at the opposition.
“So that’s helped us in terms of continuity.”
