Doncaster Rovers took an early lead in the sunshine tonight in their local derby with non-league neighbours Rossington Main.
And fittingly it was a local lad who scored.
Donny born striker Chris Brown put the Championship club ahead.
He head home at the back stick, from Tommy Spurr’s cross.
Minutes later, it was 2-0 for Rovers when Paul Quinn, the Scottish full back, got forward and benefited from a free kick deflection, banging the ball into the top corner.
The friendly looked like it was getting a bit out of control when David Syers made it 3-0, after a penetrating ball from Danny Philliskirk.
Main had a let off before half time when Brown hit the bar.
Billy Paynter threatened the home defence after the break, but some last ditche defending from Main saw the visitors frustrated.
Main’s goalie then tipped a cracking Josh Meade effort from the edge of the box over the ball.
Harry Middleton had a couple of chances as the match fizzled out.
