HOPING to move into the automatic promotion positions Doncaster Rovers did exactly that as a second half goal through David Cotterill gave them a deserved victory.
Rovers threatened early with corners by David Cotterill but the Latics had the first strike of the night as James Wesolowski drove wide.
Both teams were working hard to get the ball in the box and Dean Furman was unlucky to see his shot miss for the visitors on 28 minutes.
Doncaster were dealt a blow just after the half hour when Martin Woods was replaced by Sammy Clingan.
However Iain Hume went close twice to breaking the deadlock for Rovers before Jose Baxter saw his shot saved by Gary Woods before the break.
David Syers came on for Rovers after 62 minutes in place of James Harper and six minutes later Doncaster went in front.
