DONCASTER defender Tommy Spurr will upset family and friends were he to help Rovers bag the spoils against Leeds United today at Elland Road.
“Being from Leeds a lot of my family and friends from school are Leeds’ fans. I’m sure they’ll be there giving me some stick if I’m playing,” joked the ex Sheffield Wednesday left-back, who has made an impressive return after long injury lay-off.
“Leeds aren’t having the best of runs recently but Elland Road is always a hard place to go whatever the time. But if we can play as well as I know we can, we can come away with three points.”
Spurr added: “They aren’t playing as well at Elland Road as they are away; sometimes things happen like that. I went through spells like that at Wednesday and you can’t really put your finger on it. As was the case when I was at Wednesday, and we were playing at Hillsborough, the levels of expectation at Elland Road are high and hopefully we can use that to our advantage and frustrate them and get three points that way.
“We’ll be trying to keep them quiet in the first 20 minutes or so. We try and nullify the opposition’s strengths and then start playing our game.”
