Billy at the double as Rovers win
Doncaster Rovers came from behind to extend their unbeaten home record to three games.
Two goals in three minutes by striker Billy Sharp midway through the second half secured Rovers the spoils.
Rovers got the game underway in front of a disappointing crowd, despite a good following from Leiceister.
The visitors broke the deadlock on 38 minutes when Nugent got clear on the left and produced a superb finish to beat Woods in a one-on-one.
Rovers finished the half strongly with most of the play being in the City half but they were still unable to test Schmeichel in the City goal.
Doncaster were still in the game but they needed to score next if they were to entertain realistic hopes of salvaging a result.
They did just that on 63 minutes - Sharp heading past Schmeichel from close range after getting on the end of a left-wing cross by Fortune.
Sharp gave Rovers the lead three minutes later with a superb volley from Stock’s ball into the box.
It was end-to-end stuff at this stage with Leicester pushing for an equaliser and Rovers - with Stock driving them on - looking for a third goal to kill them off.
The visitors brought on former Leeds and Everton striker Beckford for Dyer in the 77th minute.
Beckford made an instant impact and won City a free-kick deep in the Rovers half after being fouled by O’Connor.
He also won his side an 81st minute corner with a deflected shot from 20 yards out.
City almost grabbed a stoppage time equaliser with a shot by Howard which took a deflection.
