Match winner Mark Duffy is growing in confidence by the game, according to boss Paul Dickov.

Duffy’s first goal for Doncaster, a stunning free kick, settled a scrappy encounter with struggling Yeovil Town last night at the Keepmoat and moved Rovers clear of the drop zone.

And Dickov had special praise for the former Scunthorpe wideman following his man of the match display.

Dickov said: “I thought he was fantastic.

“He’s got better and better with every game and he’s deserved his goal. I know he was still trying to claim the goal against Leicester when Kasper [Schmeichel] chucked it in!

“When he first came to us he was taking too many touches and doing too many silly things in dangerous areas,” he added.

“We spoke to him about doing a job for the team and I think we saw that from Mark last night.

“He’s growing in confidence all the time.”

Rovers’ first victory against bogey club Yeovil in nine attempts lifted them temporarily to 18th, five points clear of the bottom three.

They finished the game with 10 men after Dean Furman was sent off for two bookable offences.

“It was a fantastic result for us,” said Dickov.

“It was a scrappy performance. I thought we started the game really well but at 1-0 we lost our momentum. We stopped passing the ball in the right areas and it allowed them to get back into the game.

“But we dug in and the players deserve a lot of credit.“
