The statistics only serve to muddy the waters for punters ahead the derby collision between Doncaster and Sheffield United.

On the one hand Rovers have managed just five goals in their seven home fixtures while the Blades haven’t exactly been prolific of late, factors that point to a match tally of fewer than three goals at 7/10 with betway.

However, two of the pair’s last three meetings have ended two-each, so some punters might fancy the clash to generate a goal total of at least three, an outcome Stan James chalk up at 11/10.

Bet365 offer 5/6 about both teams getting on the score-sheet at the Keepmoat Stadium, where Paul Dickov’s men are 23/10 via BetVictor to keep a clean sheet and the visitors are 2/1 (William Hill) to do likewise.

In terms of personnel, Blades pair Jamie Murphy and Marc McNulty head Paddy Power’s first scorer betting at 11/2 apiece, BetVictor price Doncaster front man Nathan Tyson at 6/1 in the same market and bet365 quote a Curtis Main opener at 7/1.

Further down the betting, Ladbrokes quote Rovers’ Richie Wellens at 18/1 to break the deadlock, the same odds that Paddy Power post against United’s Louis Reed.

Recent Barnsley fixtures have produced plenty of goals and the same can be said of the last few games involving Colchester so Winner.com’s 7/10 for the teams to come up with three or more as they face off at Oakwell, isn’t without appeal.

Similarly, a case can be made for Stan James’s 4/7 about both teams finding the net and Danny Wilson’s troops are 4/5 (Skybet) to do so first. BetVictor meanwhile, make Tykes duo Sam Winnall and Devante Cole 11/2 and 6/1 respectively to fire the opener.

Finally, at Crewe, it’s 8/11 courtesy of Stan James for the Alex and Chesterfield to score more than twice between them with the Spireites 3/4 (betway) to bag the first of those.

More precisely, Eoin Doyle is 7/2 at bet365 to follow his FA Cup brace last weekend by putting his team 1-0 up in this one and it’s 15/1 via BetVictor for Jimmy Ryan to break the Gresty Road deadlock.
