Former Doncaster Rovers player Gary Kimble will face his ‘telepathic’ twin Alan in a non league Essex derby tonight.
Gary, who made 60 appearances for Doncaster during 1987-1989, manages Ryman Premier side Witham and will take on his brother’s side Ryman North side Maldon & Tiptree.
The identical twins, 48, may only be three minutes apart in age but the elder - Gary, finds his Witham side 16th in the Ryman Premier, the seventh tier of English football, while Maldon are 21st in the division below.
“There will be rivalry. Hopefully the players won’t be confused over who’s shouting,” Gary told BBC Essex.
However Alan, who joined then-Premier League side Wimbledon in 1993 making 265 appearances for the Dons, expressed how the result of the game would not come in-between the twins unbreakable bond.
“There’s a telepathic thing. When we were growing up I would say something and a second later he would say ‘I was just about to say that,” he said.
“It’s going to be a family affair. Win, lose or draw we will have a drink after.
“We’ll put the bragging rights to rest after the game.”
