DONCASTER Rovers grabbed a stoppage-time 2-1 League One victory at Oldham to retain fourth spot.
Substitute David Syers headed home Tommy Spurr’s cross to stretch Rovers unbeaten away league record to 10 games.
“The conditions spoilt the game and it was a bit of a battle,” said Rovers boss Dean Saunders.
“It was a game which could have gone either way. I thought we got on top of them in the second half but we couldn’t find the finishing touch.”
“When Dave Cotterill got clean through on the keeper and didn’t score I thought it was going to be one of those days, but Syers came on and did what I’ve been expecting him to do. He’s a goalscoring midfielder.”
Saunders will not be offering midfielder Sammy Clingan a longer-term contract.
Former Rovers manager Sean O’Driscoll has been sacked by Nottingham Forest despite winning yesterday 4-2 against Leeds.
