John Ryan and One Direction star Louis Tomlinson are edging ever closer to completing their sensational takeover of Doncaster Rovers.
A press conference has been planned at Wembley Stadium today, where One Direction are scheduled to perform this evening.
Talks have accelerated this week and the deal is expected to be completed this morning.
Bessacarr-raised Tomlinson - thought to be worth in the region of £14 million - is likely to become a ‘silent partner’ to ex-chairman Ryan, should the negotiations get over the finish line.
His proposed involvement with his hometown team would potentially make the club a more attractive option to potential investors, sponsors and commercial partners.
The 22-year-old pop star’s earnings are set to soar this year, with One Direction’s five members set to pocket £600 million between them in 2014.
Ryan and Tomlinson are believed to be keen on ploughing extra funds into Rovers’ playing budget in a concerted effort to gain promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking.
The pair must persuade Ryan’s fellow majority shareholders Terry Bramall and Dick Watson to sell their 23 per cent stakes in the club to assume control.
