Doncaster Rovers have signed Derby County forward Theo Robinson on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Birmingham-born Robinson is a graduate of the Watford youth academy after he was spotted in the Football League Exit Trials following his release, as a schoolboy, by Stoke City.

He signed a two-year apprenticeship with Watford after a successful trial and went on to represent the Hornets in the first team before signing professional terms in 2007 when he made an appearance in the Premier League.

Possessing pace and goal-scoring ability, Robinson also enjoyed loan spells at clubs including Southend United and Hereford United.

In 2009 Huddersfield Town secured Robinson’s services for an undisclosed fee from Watford. He was later loaned to Championship side Millwall where he made an instant impact by scoring the winning goal against Crystal Palace before joining the Lions on a permanent basis.

He signed for Derby, making over 60 appearances and scoring 18 goals.

Robinson will be available for Doncaster Rovers’ game against Blackburn Rovers tomorrow night.
