Paul Dickov will ask his players for ‘same again’ when they renew acquaintances with League One leaders Bristol City tonight.

The meeting at the Keepmoat this evening will be the fourth of the season between the two sides after their FA Cup third round clash went to a replay last month.

Dickov felt Rovers should have won the original staging of that tie on home soil and says his side will cause headaches for the table toppers if they can replicate the performance of that day.

“We will take a lot of heart from when we played them here in the cup,” Dickov said.

“We drew 1-1 and we feel we should have gone on and won that game.

“If the players give as good a performances as we did that day we will give them plenty of problems, as good as Bristol City are.

“They’re a very good team and they’re top of the league for the reason.

“We know what they’re about after playing them three times already. They’ve got a lot of good players and we know it’ll be difficult.”

City have occupied top spot since mid-September after all except one game since.

Despite this, they have suffered hiccups recently, winning just two of their last five league games.

And they suffered a surprising 3-2 defeat to relegation-threatened Colchester United on Saturday.

Dickov however would not entertain the suggestion that this is a good time to play Steve Cotterill’s side.

He said: “I don’t think you can every really say that about any team in this division. “Look at some of the results on Saturday, teams are beating everyone all over the place. You only have to look at Colchester beating Bristol City and Leyton Orient beating Oldham.

“Form counts for very little in this division, especially when you’re playing the team that has consistently proven they’re the best.”

Dickov expects to be able to call upon Paul Keegan for tonight’s game after the midfield ace missed Saturday’s defeat at Port Vale with a thigh injury.

James Coppinger is unlikely to feature once again.
