Paul Dickov has been appointed manager of Doncaster Rovers. Watch a video interview with Rovers’ new boss here.
The former Oldham Athletic boss was given the nod after a frenzied interview process.
And he opened his reign with a series of incredibly positive statements about Rovers’ prospects following promotion to the Championship.
“It’s an honour for me,” the 40-year-old said.
“It’s a step up but a step up I’m ready for. I’m enthusiastic about the challenge ahead.”
Dickov insists he will not target a finish of fourth bottom of the Championship as that would immediately set a negative tone.
He says he firmly believes Rovers are capable of finishing in the top half of the division.
Chairman John Ryan insisted the decision was made at the 11th hour, such was the standard of the candidates.
The interview process did not end until Monday afternoon with Dickov told of his success just an hour before he was unveiled to the media.
