Rovers have completed the signing of striker Nathan Tyson on a one-year deal.
The 32-year-old has spent the majority of pre-season on trial with Rovers and has impressed in several friendly matches, including against Grimsby Town where he was among the goalscorers.
Tyson has been without a club since being released by Blackpool at the end of last season.
He is expected to be the first in a raft of signings by Rovers boss Paul Dickov this week with fellow trialist Cedric Evina also due to agree a deal.
The Reading-born forward started his career with his home town club before joining Wycombe Wanderers following a successful loan spell where he netted 41 goals in 77 appearances.
Tyson then moved to Nottingham Forest for £675,000, making 205 appearances and scoring 40 goals, before joining East Midlands rivals Derby County on a free.
He switched to Blackpool last summer but failed to make a single start for the Tangerines. He had loan spells with Fleetwood Town and Notts County last season but did not manage a goal.
Tyson has not scored a senior goal since November 2012.
