Third-placed Rovers are yet to suffer back-to-back defeats in League Two.

Their best performance of the season, at Morecambe, also came on the back of a 2-1 loss at Crewe.

And captain Coppinger wants to see the same sort of ‘bouncebackability’ at home to Wycombe Wanderers tomorrow following last weekend’s surprise setback at Blackpool.

“Every time we’ve lost there’s been a good response,” said Coppinger.

“We’ve got a young team and a lot of players who are playing their first full season.

“Not everything is going to be plain sailing, and it’s about how you respond.

“You’re always going to get setbacks. It’s about managing them and responding in the right manner.

“The young lads need to realise it’s not always going to be 4-1 wins and 2-0 wins. You’re going to get defeats and it’s about learning from them and not making the same mistakes.

“Looking ahead to Saturday’s game, it’s the perfect opportunity to do that.

“The goals we conceded last Saturday were down to us being a little bit naive and maybe the younger lads can learn from how we conceded those goals.”

Manager Darren Ferguson, Coppinger added, has fostered a collective approach to dealing with adversity.

“I’ve played under managers before where you dreading coming in on a Monday morning and you can get singled out and it becomes a bit more of a personal thing,” said the 35-year-old.

“But it’s more of a collective thing here now. If you make a mistake, it’s learn from it. We’re in it together. We’re conceding and scoring goals together, it’s a team thing.”
